At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, John Naber captured four Gold Medals, one Silver Medal and broke four World Records. His World Records in the 100 and 200-meter backstroke lasted an amazing seven years after his retirement.
One of today's top motivational speakers, Olympic Gold Medallist John Naber is also one of America's leading television analysts, commentators, and hosts, providing viewers with unique and entertaining perspectives on the "behind-the-scenes" stories of today's most exciting athletes. He is the author of Eureka! How Innovation Changes the Olympics and Everything Else, Awaken the Olympian Within: Stories from America's Greatest Olympic Motivators and In Search of Gold. He was also a contributing author to The Power of Character. He has covered six Olympics including the Winter Games in Nagano, Japan, and has served as the play-by-play host on ABC's Wide World of Sports.
As a speaker, he shows audiences how goal setting, persistence, and attitude can make a major difference in realizing one's dreams. During his athletic career he won 25 National AAU titles, and set a record by winning 10 NCAA individual titles (in 12 swims) while leading his team to four undefeated seasons; in 1977, he won the James E. Sullivan Award as our Nation's Outstanding Amateur Athlete. In 1984, John carried the Olympic Flag into the opening Ceremonies of the Los Angeles Games, and he was elected into the United States Olympic Committee Hall of Fame. In December 2003, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Pepperdine University.
