As Lifestyle Anchor for ABC’s Good Morning America, Lara Spencer brings her well-known and much admired versatility and vitality to a broad range of GMA stories.
She focuses on many issues including family, parenting, health, fitness and work/life balance. She also helps lead GMA’s entertainment and celebrity coverage. and contributes to Nightline and other programs.
Prior to rejoining GMA, Lara was the host of the popular syndicated television newsmagazine The Insider and was a regular contributor to CBS’ The Early Show. Prior to joining The Early Show, Lara was a national correspondent for ABC’s Good Morning America, and spent several years as a features and lifestyle reporter for WABC-TV.
Lara also has a lifelong passion (and talent) for finding bargains and treasures at flea markets, yard sales and thrift shops. She was the host of the PBS’ Antiques Roadshow for the 2004 and 2005 seasons, as well as Antiques Roadshow FYI.
She also moonlights as a decorator for friends and family, including the remodel of comedian Kathy Griffin’s house, and seen on Griffin’s hit Bravo series My Life on the D-List. Lara’s homes have been featured in numerous publications, including the Los Angeles Times.
In addition to delivering entertainment news, decorating, or dumpster diving–ahem, treasure hunting—she’s also working on her book (to be published in 2011) called I Brake For Yard Sales.

Her ability to spot potential in even the most sorry-looking of items has earned her a steady and enthusiastic following of design requests, from spearheading giant treasure-hunting adventures at flea markets to full-blown home renovation projects.
As a former host of PBS' Antiques Roadshow, she's seen the gamut of hopeful finds¦from the rarest of objects to the simply sentimental. But Lara knows that decoration is a reflection of one's personality and that it doesn't need to cost a lot to achieve that. Lara shows you what to look for and gives you easy fix-up ideas that transform not only the items, but the spaces you love.
The Perfect Host
Lara has worked her way up the news ladder. From giving tours at 30 Rockefeller Plaza to driving endless hours to cover strawberry festivals and store openings to her current success as host of The Insider, audiences everywhere relate to her. Lara attended Penn State University on a scholarship for springboard and platform diving, became captain of the varsity team, and was named All American. A working mom of two, her ability to combine her passions for parenting and doing a job she loves, coupled with her professional, down-to-earth style has made her a favorite of organizations around the country to host or moderate their events.
