A Personal Goal

Get a good education and travel. No one can take those things away from you.” Grandpa M.

It’s advice my grandpa gave to my mom, and she passed it on to me.

And on June 4th, 2022, I walked! I now have my Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration. I actually graduated in December 2021, but the January commencement ceremony was not to be. Darn COVID.

My story is not unique.
I started my college path in my 20s. Dropped out. Went to work. Got married. Had three kids. The years went by. I joined the family business and am now the owner. So why would I need to go back to college?
Because it’s my story. It’s my degree. And no one can take that from me.

I made the decision to get my degree and set a goal. I took one class at a time. I learned many things, including the fact that the days of needing just a book, notebook, and pencil are long gone! A huge part of my education involved learning a ton of tech platforms. It wasn’t easy. There were long nights. Difficult days. Times I questioned my decision. But one of the benefits of operating a speakers bureau is that I’m surrounded by positive messages, one of which is set GOALS and NEVER give up on your dreams! And I’m thrilled to share with you one of my favorite positive energy speakers.

Bridging Grit, Resilience & Happiness: A Revolutionary Approach to Game-changing Results

AWE-thentic grit comes from passion, persistence, and purpose. It’s a trait of resilient leaders. It’s what enables them to inspire others to be better and imagine greater possibilities and create happiness for themselves.

Caroline’s BRIDGE method, combined with effective goal setting, can mean the difference between success and failure:

It made the difference for me. Here’s what I gained from Caroline’s talk:
  • Understand the ways grit can be used both professionally and personally to increase resilience, create success, and lead with happiness
  • Develop practical strategies that support grit, like defining purpose, developing “harmonious” passion, creating intrinsic motivation, and fostering a “growth” mindset
  • Cultivate awe-thentic grit to stay resilient in the face of change and challenges
  • Establish accountability and build a culture of positive energizers who encourage people to put forth their best efforts in a way that inspires others to do the same
Caroline inspires, empowers, and invigorates groups of all sizes and demographics and, even better, she puts the awe back in awesome!
